There is a particular type of insanity that comes when pregnancy meets insomnia and I am deep in the throws of it. What that looked like this week was me cutting out bats in the middle of the night in preparation for our Halloween celebration. My hips are hurting so much that I can’t sleep on my side, and I’m having trouble adjusting to sleeping propped up on my back. So I’m having a very sleepy second trimester.
Holidays look a little bit different this year, but we are trying to make it special. This is my first Halloween in Michigan in 5 years, so it is nice to be able to spend it with my family.
Keeping this short and sweet tonight, but I wanted to share what we did for our Halloween celebration. My Mom loves Mexican food, so I went with a Mexican theme. While our main course cooked, we enjoyed Pomegranate Sangria (virgin for me), Guacamole, and Queso in a pumpkin. For dinner, we had pumpkin-shaped Cheesy Chorizo Empanadas and Tortilla Soup. I am off to watch Coco while we enjoy warm Apple Cider from the Franklin Cider Mill, S’more dip, and Spicy Cinnamon Brownies with Salted Peanut Butter Icing. Hope everyone is safely enjoying Halloween and preparing to vote!
